They would strike a grand total of just 300,000 total coins at the New Orleans Mint in 1893 -- the rarest by far from the Southern Mint and the 5th rarest Morgan Dollar by mintage in the entire series!
Thanks to their low mintage, they were immediately popular with collectors. But over the years they have become almost impossible to find, and their population reports reflect it:
