2021 National Park Quarters
In 2021, the United States Mint concluded the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, releasing one final design that celebrated the nation's extraordinary National Parks and other significant sites, showcasing the diverse beauty and rich history of the United States. The sole quarter of 2021 honored the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site in Alabama, featuring a depiction of an African American pilot from the Tuskegee Airmen in front of a P-51 Mustang aircraft, with the Moton Field control tower in the background. This design commemorates the courage, skill, and dedication of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces, breaking racial barriers and paving the way for future generations. The inscription "They Fought Two Wars" highlights their dual struggle against fascism abroad and racial discrimination at home during World War II. This final quarter was minted in limited quantities, engaging collectors and the general public while fostering a deeper appreciation for the nation's natural beauty and historic landmarks.
