State and National Park Quarters
Starting in January 1999, each of the 50 states in the Union were honored on a unique Quarter Dollar commemorative coin. Five states were featured each year, based on the order in which they ratified the Constitution or became states, the last year, 2009, featured America's six territories. 2010 was the first year of issue in the 2nd series of the U.S. Mint’s State Quarter Program... called “America the Beautiful Quarters” or “America’s National Parks.” Five quarters were released each year. Like the State Quarters, each quarter will be minted from the Philadelphia and the Denver Mint. The obverse design showing George Washington remains unchanged, while the reverse design reflects the National Park that is being honored.
