About this Product Full Product Name

The Barber Half Dollar

1892 was a significant year for the U.S. Mint. They issued the 1st special coin in U.S. History for the World's Fair held in Chicago. They also re-designed our 'work horse' 90% Silver coinage...the dime, quarter, and half dollar - all called Barbers due to the lead designer of the U.S. Mint Charles Barber.

The Barber design, a bolder, more modern image of Lady Liberty, was in circulation for just 24 years (1982-1915). It was also the last time the U.S. Mint released the same design on a series of circulating coins. During its span the Half Dollar would be issued at four U.S. Mints: Philadelphia, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Denver. Two of these mints hold significance in coinage history, the 1st 90% Silver coin issued at the Denver Mint was in 1906, and the last Silver Coin issued at the New Orleans Mint was 1909.

100 years later...the numbers don't lie. The Barber Half Dollar is scare, its 24 year span all added together is less than the 1964 Kennedy alone. Then add the coin 'killers' - the Great Depression in 1929 and the silver run up over face value in the middle of the 1960s (the coins silver was worth more than its demonination), and the melting of many silver coins in the1980s.

We have the deepest Barber Half Dollar inventory in the country...Every coin issued form 1900-1915...from all four mints. All of our coins are hand selected ciruculated issues present in our custom display lens, and to make it even better our prices are at least 50% under the country's largest retail

This is the 1910 Philadelphia Barber Half Dollar. It is in circulated condition.
