The Rare 1916 One-Year-Only Design

When the Walking Liberty was first issued in 1916, it was produced at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. The mint mark was placed on the obverse of the coin underneath the motto ‘In God We Trust’. The next year however, the United States Mint decided to move this mint mark to the reverse of the coin to the left of the ‘H’ in ‘Half Dollar’.

This design change made these special 1916 coins one-year-only designs a designation that makes them highly coveted among collectors -- on top of their already prime-status as the first coins ever made in the series!

Each 1916 Philadelphia Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin will arrive encapsulated and in collector's quality circulated condition.
