1996 Roosevelt Dime - West Point (W) - NGC 67

Until very recently this 1996 U.S Mint set stood alone amongst its peers. This is because it contained something very special: A Dime that was never issued for circulation! But that is not all, this dime immediately became the KEY piece that every Roosevelt collection had to have!

But wait - it gets even better! We came across several rolls of these special West Point Mint dimes while in Florida for the F.U.N. Show and had them certified by NGC... and they came back in stunning MS67 condition!

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt Dime, the United States Mint broke with tradition and included a special West Point ( ‘W’ ) Dime in the 1996 U.S. Mint Set… but the coin was never issued for circulation!

As a result, the 1996 United States Mint Set is the ONLY way to obtain this very rare West Point Mint Roosevelt Dime… and to top it all off, it is the first Roosevelt Dime ever produced by the West Point Mint!

The 1996 United States Mint set had a mintage of 1,457,000 total sets produced. Prior to 1996, the lowest Minted Roosevelt dime produced was the 1950 San Francisco Dime with a mintage of 20,440,000! If you crunch the numbers you find that the 1996 West Point Roosevelt Dime is 14 times rarer!

It is also the Second Lowest West Point Roosevelt Dime ever Produced! (Second only to the special edition 2014 West Point 'March of Dimes' Release)!

When certified in NGC MS67 condition they are even harder to find!

That breaks down to just 1 in every 347 coins struck -- Less than 0.29%!
