2020 Basketball Silver Dollar - Proof

Struck to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Hall, these coins are truly breathtaking -- After the smash-hit of the Baseball Hall of Fame, these special half dollars were THE must-have coins of 2020!

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame celebrated its 60h Anniversary in 2020 and marked this historic occasion with the release of a some very special coins honoring the Basketball Hall of Fame! These special curved pieces are just the 3rd of their kind in U.S. Mint History (The 2014 Baseball was #1 and the 2019 Apollo was #2) – but what separates them is the inclusion of an Enhanced Uncirculated Half Dollar! This is important because it is now the first ever Special Issue half dollar struck in this condition from the United States Mint!

The coin, which itself has a dome-like shape, has an obverse portraying a Basketball going into the basketball hoop. The inverse of the coin features three different basketball players (One Male, One Female, and one Paraplegic) all reaching for the Basketball above them. The reverse also features the stitch-pattern of a basketball net while also being given a unique 3-D appearance thanks to the curved-coin technology used by the United States Mint.
