The Queen's Final 1oz Silver Britannia: The End of an Era at the Royal Mint
This is truly an incredible coin -- the final 1oz Silver Britannia to feature the Queen Elizabeth II Obverse design. The Queen's historic and record-setting reign as the sovereign of the United Kingdom came to an end on September 8th, 2022... but they had started striking the 2023 Britannia in late August before ceasing production once she had passed.
That means they only struck these end of an era pieces for just a few days -- making them one of the rarest coins in the entire series.
We have the coins individually and in roll format while our incredibly limited supply lasts -- once these coins are gone, they are sure to disappear into collections for good.
The 2023 'Queen's Edition' 1oz Silver Britannia
The Bank of England has been issuing the 'Britannia' since 1997, and this year's (2023) marks the 26th anniversary of the piece! Outside of the American Silver Eagle, the Britannia is one of the most collected silver coins in the entire world.
The design of this stunning coin features Britannia, the UK version of our ‘Lady Liberty’. She stands strong against the powerful and biting winds that the United Kingdom is known for among sailors.
The average mintage for these coins from 2004-2012 was just above 100,000 coins per year, making this 1oz Silver Britannia one of the rarest silver coins collected annually -- and these short-run Queen Elizabeth II Obverse 2023 coins are sure to be the rarest of the bunch.
