Byzantine Folles - Image of Christ & Mary - NCG Premium Grade

These special coins were struck from 1,065 to 1,071 A.D. and have been certified by the experts over at NGC to be 100% authentic bronze coins struck by the Byzantine Empire -- making each coin a 950+ year old piece of ancient history!

When the Roman Empire began to fall, the Western portion dissolved significantly faster than the Eastern Roman Empire -- often referred to as the 'Holy Roman Empire' after Constantine moved the capitol to Constantinople in 330 A.D.

This 'Holy Roman Empire' would eventually become known as the 'Byzantine Empire' many centuries later after it fell to the Ottomans in 1453.

During this long reign, they struck many bronze coins (known as a 'Folles') -- with most featuring the current ruler of the Empire -- but that was not all they produced.

They also struck coins that today are known as 'Anonymous Folles' -- a reference to them not featuring a Byzantine or Roman Emperor.

Most of these coins featured images of Emmanuel Christ or Jesus Christ, but there was a group of coins that featured both the image of Jesus Christ AND that of Mother Mary!

Each coin will arrive certified by NGC as being an Authentic Byzantine Bronze Folles coin in Premium condition.
