1864 $500 Confederate - PMG 25

The design of these notes is one of the most popular ever printed on notes issued by the Confederate States of America -- the rare $500 note.

The design depicts the pre-amble of a battlefield, prominently displaying a vignette of two horsemen pulling a field gun towards the front lines.

When the war ended, the Union attempted to destroy all of the existing Confederate currency, but lucky for us they didn’t get all of them.

A very small number of Confederate Bank Notes were stashed away and saved from destruction at the hands of the Union, a mere fraction of what once existed.
