The 1st-Ever New Orleans Mint Morgan Dollar
The New Orleans Mint would strike the Morgan Silver Dollar from 1879 to 1904, the shortest run of the three major Mints that struck the iconic silver dollar.
When it comes to collecting, firsts and lasts are always important -- and that holds especially true when we are talking about coins as rare as the New Orleans Mint Morgans!
In 1879, the New Orleans Mint would strike just 2,778,000 total Morgan Dollars -- a small enough mintage for it to rank #5 out of all 26 O-Mint Silver Dollars!
Despite millions of coins being struck, very few have survived the test of time and survived the 145+ years until today:
Population Reports currently show (as of 03-14-2024) that just 29,577 total coins exist in any condition at all today with NGC and PCGS.
That breaks down to just 1 in every 93 coins struck!
Just 1.06% of the entire mintage!
Each 1879-O Morgan Dollar will arrive in Uncirculated condition and in our Defender Holder.
