1928 $1 Silver Certificate - Funny Back - Circulated

The 1st Small-Size in U.S. History

We transitioned from the massive 'saddlebag' or 'Jumbo' Certificates in 1928 -- the only issue was, the Treasury tried out something new on the Silver Certificates: they had the reverse side in a vibrant green color (while keeping the front of the note the typical darker shades people were accustomed to).

This resulted in many people believing they were fake initially, and then gained them the nickname 'Funnyback' among collectors, and 'Monopoly Money' among those who believed they looked more like children's play-money than actual U.S. Currency notes.

As a result, they would discontinue these notes and by 1935 a new design was rolling off the presses at the BEP.

These 19289 'Funnyback' notes were only produced for a little under 3 months, making them very hard to find for collectors today.

Each note will arrive in collector's quality circulated condition and in a protective currency sleeve.
