About this Product Full Product Name

In Honor of Today’s Historic Anniversary! The First Washington Quarter in Uncirculated Condition!

George Washington is one of our favorite presidents, and its easy to see why: he was the father of our country who led us through the war for American Independence! Today, February 4th, is one of the most important dates in the history of the United States! It was on that day, more than 233 years ago in 1788, that General George Washington was unanimously elected to the office of the presidency for the first of his two terms!

The Washington Quarter was released in 1932 on the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s birth. At the time the coin was meant to be a one-year-only issue honoring our great nation’s first commander-in-chief, but due to overwhelming popularity, Congress authorized the design to be continued indefinitely. The public LOVED the Washington Quarter and its simple yet beautiful design!

The Start of a Modern Day Collecting Frenzy!

The Washington Quarter has always been popular but it went to another level when the US Mint chose the quarter denomination for its ground-breaking 50 State Quarter program. The State Quarter Series lasted for over 11 years (the 50 State and 6 Territories) and introduced hundreds of millions of new collectors to the world of United States coin collecting. In essence, a larger portion of MODERN coin collecting within the United States owes its existence to the popularity of President Washington’s Quarter!

Do not miss out on your chance to get the 1st Year Washington quarter that became a staple of United States Numismatics!

Did you know? Originally Congress wanted to put Washington on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar for the year, but ended up displacing, and then replacing, the Standing Liberty Quarter with our beloved Washington Quarter we use today!
