In 1986, for the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, the United States Mint released two of the most popular coins ever - the Statue of Liberty Dollar and Half Dollar.

This set consists of both coins in Uncirculated condition. The obverse of the 1986 Statue of Liberty Dollar portrays Liberty in the foreground with the immigration center behind her, commemorating Ellis Island as the "Gateway to America." The reverse features Liberty's torch and the words..."Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." The obverse of this 1986 Statue of Liberty Half Dollar features the United States' as a nation of immigrants. The obverse pictures a ship of immigrants steaming into the New York Harbor, greeted by the Statue of Liberty in the foreground, with the New York skyline in the distance. The reverse shows a scene of an immigrant family with their belongings on the threshold of America.
