1992 Nolan Ryan Baseball 2pc. Proof Set

The professional baseball player Nolan Ryan is without a doubt, one of the greatest to have ever played in Major League Baseball. He holds the record for the most season in Modern Baseball (from 1900-today) with 27 seasons and ranks 1st all-time in Strike-outs, no hitters, and fewest hits allowed per inning! In fact, tomorrow marks the anniversary of Nolan Ryan striking out his 5,000th batter!

In honor of this historic anniversary and milestone, we have decided to bring back America’s FIRST ever ‘Baseball themed’ 2pc. Special Issue set released by the United States Mint that (technically) honored the Great Nolan Ryan!

When the 1992 Olympic 2pc. Proof set was released, the special issue Baseball Silver Dollar in the set created quite a bit of excitement ... it was the first tribute to America's game on a U.S. coin! But shortly after its release, the issue of "who's on the coin" was all the talk. A baseball card collector said it was the exact image of Nolan Ryan from his 1991 Fleer card #302. Studying the card and the coin's design closely will prove the claim.


Did the U.S. Mint REALLY copy a baseball card design? The pitcher's arm location, how the glove is being held, and even the jersey's wrinkle are EXACTLY the same on both the Card’s picture and the Coin’s portrait!

This special 2pc. set was released in 1992 for the Olympic games held in both France (Winter) and Spain (Summer). In this collection not only did you get the famous ‘Nolan Ryan’ Silver Dollar, you also received special issue Half-Dollar that featured a gymnast in the middle of a jump-split, with the American Flag behind her!
