Since its introduction in 1986, the Silver Eagle has quickly become the world's #1 silver coin -- and the first decade of issue is SCARCE by today's standards:

The highest mintage of the first decade is the 2nd year of issue in 1987 with just 11,442,335 -- which means that 5 of these coins rank in the top 10 of all regular issue uncirculated Silver Eagles!

A New Discovery Decades Later: The 'Secret' San Francisco Silver Eagles of 1986 and 1987

The first decade is more popular than ever before -- in large part due to the news that broke a few years ago: The 1986 and 1987 Uncirculated Silver Eagles were actually struck at the San Francisco Mint (without a mint mark) -- not the West Point Mint like we all originally believed!

This confusion came from the fact that West Point was created to be THE U.S. Mint to strike the bullion version of the Silver Eagle -- but they weren't ready for the first two years, so the San Francisco Mint stepped up and struck the coins that were needed --much like they still do today with their Supplemental and Emergency Issues!

A Freedom-of-Information-Act (FOIA) request cleared this confusion up a few years ago -- and ever since, these already iconic U.S. Mint firsts have become some of the must-have Silver Eagles in the series.

Each Set includes 10 Silver Eagles, one from each year of the first decade of its production (from 1986 to 1995).Each Silver Eagle will arrive in uncirculated condition and encapsulated.
