YES a 2 Cent Coin!

Over the past 220 plus years The United States has changed immensely. The simple Horse and Buggy became complex mass produced automobiles and hard-wired phones have turned into miniature personal computers that fit into your pocket. As the country has changed so too has our coinage.

There are several denominations that were produced before the turn of the 20th century that had a significant impact on our monetary system, chief among them the fabled "2 Cent Piece". Some collectors may not even know that this coin existed, but that does not mean it isn't one of the most iconic collector's pieces!

The Fabled Two-Cent Piece

The Two -Cent Piece began its production at the Philadelphia Mint in 1864. It is one of the largest copper coins ever issued by the US Mint but, the Two-Cent Piece is known for being the first United States coin to bear the motto "In God We Trust".

The Two-Cent Piece was minted from 1864 until 1873, after which it was pulled from circulation by the United States Government. This means that these coins have been out of circulation for over 140 years!

Beautiful Quality, A Historical Rarity, and the Perfect Presentation Piece

Finding first year of issue two cent pieces can be extremely frustrating; at almost a century and a half old, these coins were heavily circulated throughout the United States and more often than not the coins show heavy wear and tear. But Fear Not! The hard work has already been done for you! After spending the better part of the last year searching for as many as we could find, we are happy to be able to bring to you a select number of these first year of issue coins!

Each of our Two cent pieces are authentic, hand selected, circulated coins, encapsulated in our custom protective lens. All two cent pieces were struck at the Philadelphia Mint.

Did You Know? The Two-Cent Piece is almost the same size as our quarter we use today? Now, THAT is a big penny!
