To celebrate the contributions of our 32nd President,
Franklin D. Roosevelt, the United States Mint issued a dime with his portrait
in 1946. The Roosevelt Dime replaced the "Mercury" dime in 1946. It
has been in production for over 60 years.
Few are aware the US Mint brought back 90% silver coins as part of a limited release proof set in 1992. These "black packs" as they were initially called were not as popular as the US Mint had hoped ... but it wasn't rocket science to understand why. They were being sold by the US Mint for 3 times the price of the regular issue clad set .. so the clad set got all of the business .. but today the rarer silver offers a value that's tough to pass up!
Quality A proof is a double struck, razor sharp, specimen ... the finest quality coin released each year. Now add in the look of a 90% silver coin - the combination can't be matched! It's simply the best!
Rarity Roosevelt Dimes were first issued in 1946, the year after the death of our beloved President. The Rarest Roosevelt Dimes, all dates and mint marks, are the 90% Silver Proof Issues.
This Silver Proof Roosevelt Dime is encapsulated for protection.
