2008 Bald Eagle Dollar & Medal Folio Set - Uncirculated

With the bald eagle’s iconic position in our Nation’s hearts and minds, it is shocking to many that we almost let them become extinct!

During the 1960s, it was estimated that there were as few as just 400 nesting pairs of bald eagles in the United States of America -- down from over 100,000! This massive drop in population was a direct result of the poaching and habitat destruction that was running rampant across the country

Thankfully, America woke up and was able to right the ship in the nick of time. Not only did we successfully bring back the bald eagle from the endangered species list, but we actually decided to honor the momentous occasion with our National Bird's very own silver dollar.

2008 marked the 35th Anniversary of the 1973 Endangered Species Act. In honor of this momentous piece of legislation, the United States Mint released a very special coin: the Bald Eagle Silver Dollar

Alongside the Half Dollar and Silver Dollars, they also released a special Folio set that contained an Uncirculated version of the special Silver Dollar alongside a U.S. mint medal -- and when the dust settled this set had a mintage of just 26,918 -- making it one of the rarest releases from the U.S. Mint in 2008!

Each 2008 Bald Eagle Folio Set will arrive in the original government packaging.
