About this Product Full Product Name

The US Mint, as part of Public Law 111-221, issued a 10th Anniversary National Medal in honor of those who lost their lives, those who risked their lives to save others, and the endurance, resilience and hope of those who survived. The same act also established the "National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center."

The Designs
The obverse features Lady Liberty holding the Lamp of Remembrance, with beacons of light reaching for the sky in the background. The words "Always Remember" and the dates "2001 - 2011" form a half circle around the coin. The reverse depicts an eagle, a symbol of strength, against a backdrop of cascading water, a symbol of peace and healing with the words Honor and Hope.

The Purest US Mint Special Release
For this event the US Mint will issue for the 1st time a 1-ounce silver struck in .999 fine silver, just like our American Eagle Dollars. Our traditional Special Release Dollars are struck out of .900 fine silver. The US Mint has authorized both the Philadelphia (P) and the West Point (W) Mints to strike these special proof issues.
