Eleanor Roosevelt served as First Lady of the United States from 1933 to 1945 -- she was married to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Alongside her role as First Lady, she was also a celebrated author, civil liberties advocate, and chairperson of the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

She was instrumental in getting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights passed and during her time, was without a doubt the most politically active and influential First Lady in the history of the United States. She dedicated her life to bettering the lives of others and has been forever cemented in U.S. history for her incredible accomplishments.

Her four-consecutive terms as First Lady have ensured that she will forever be remembered as the longest serving First Lady in the history of the United States, and one of the most impactful.
