The Last Decade of Wheat Cents with a Bonus

If you are anything like me, you started your collection by finding a few 'diamonds in the rough' in your pocket change and slowly watched your personal collections grow...but let me ask you this: When was the last time you found a wheat cent in your pocket change? My guess is that it has not happened for many years!

When it comes to Lincoln Cents, Wheaties are some of the hardest to find, with most collectors having to search months just to find a few in collector's quality uncirculated condition. Luckily, we have already done the hard work for you. We have put together a collection of the last decade of Lincoln Wheat Cents...but that's not all.

The Cent that had to be Saved

It's hard to believe the last copper cent was issued by the U.S. Mint 33 years ago in 1982, on top of that the last Wheat Cent was minted over 53 years ago in 1958. The Lincoln Cent has a dual claim to fame: it was the first piece or circulating U.S. coinage to bear the image of a U.S. President AND the longest tenured coin in the history of the United States Mint (107 and going strong).

To top it all off, the Lincoln Cent is still rather important today...with the melt value of a copper cent is in excess of its face value, so many were being melted that Congress had to pass a law making it illegal to melt copper U.S. Cents! These cents were so valuable they had to be protected.

The Last Decade...with a Special WWII Bonus

Not only will you get a copper Lincoln Wheat Cent from the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mint from each year of issue (1949-1958), but you will also receive one uncirculated 1943 'Steel Cent' from the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mint. These special silver-colored cents were used during WWII when the nation's copper was rationed and crucial to the war effort. These 'Steel Cents' are real-life piece of U.S. military history.
