About this Product Full Product Name

The Oregon Trail Half Dollar was issued between 1926 and 1939. It was struck to commemorate the 2000-mile-high-way traveled by many of our early settlers trying to reach the golden coast. It portrays a covered wagon with ox and the sun setting in the west on one side with a proud Indian chief super imposed over a map of the United States on the other.

Limited Production

Even though it was issued over a 14 year period the mintage figures tell the real story... the combined mintage is less than 210,000 coins. By comparison three US Mint sell outs over the last decade have more than double the mintage...the 2001 Buffalo Dollar at 500,000 - the 2005 Marine Corp Dollar at 600,000 - and the 2009 Lincoln Dollar at 450,000.

1st Year of Issue

Our small hoard consists of 1926 dated, first year of issue specimens. Each coin is in uncirculated issue encapsulated and protected by a felt pouch.
