About this Product Full Product Name

The Washington State Quarter was the second State Quarter issued in 2007. It was also the 42nd coin in the series because Washington was the 42nd State to join the Union. The Washington coin will be followed by the coins for Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah to complete the 2007 collection. The coins for each state are made for only about 10 weeks before production starts on the next coin. The Washington Quarter shows a King Salmon in the foreground, with Mount Ranier in the Background. The Unique Coin design is completed with the state nickname, The Evergreen State. The nickname derives from the abundance of evergreen trees throughout Washington State. The design of the Washington Quarter was selected through a competition that attracted more than 1,500 entries.Washington Governor Chris Gregoire announced the winning design on May 4, 2006.

Starting with New Hampshire, the US Mint introduced Government Wrapped Roll pairs. Each pair contains a 40 coin of uncirculated quarters from the Philadelphia and Denver Mint. The value of these Government wrapped rolls is in how many vs how few are produced during the 10 week period the US Mint issues the quarter and the popularity of the state and or design.

In December 1997, America's most adventurous coin program became a reality when President Clinton signed legislation authorizing the U.S. Mint to issue the innovative 50 State Quarters collection. Starting in January 1999, each of the 50 states in the Union will be honored on a unique Quarter Dollar commemorative coin. As a result, mintages of each quarter only are to be just a fraction of the "normal" quarters are. Regular issue coins will be minted at both the Philadelphia and the Denver Mints. The mint marks can be found to the right of George Washington's portrait on the obverse: the small "P" indicates the Philadelphia Mint and the small "D" refers to the Denver.
