Presidents Day, a day we honor those who have helped shape the nation we are today. It may be the way the calendar falls, but we overlooked another individual who has changed America .. Susan B Anthony.

Few would have thought that a single individual, Born on February 15th, 1820, would have such an impact on "equal rights" not only in the United States but the world over. Her resolve was strengthened in 1868 by the passage of the 14th Amendment, which guaranteed to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States" the privileges of citizenship, which contained no gender qualification, yet women were still not allowed to vote. It would take almost 50 years before the passage of the 19th Amendment, unfortunately, Susan B Anthony died 14 years prior to it's passage.

In 1936 and again in 1954 the US Post office commemorated her efforts on official postage stamps. In 1979 she was honored as the 1st real American woman on circulating US coinage with her appearance on the Susan B Anthony Dollar. It was made for 3 years; 1979 to 1981 at all 3 US Mints ( Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco ) and then again in 1999.
