2014 John Calvin Coolidge Presidential Dollar

John Calvin Coolidge, born July 4 1872, was the 30th President of the United States of America. He was a Republican lawyer from Vermont who worked his way up state politics in Massachusetts until elected Governor of the state in 1918. His rise to fame as Governor came to a climax during the 1919 Boston Police Strike, where his quick action helped solve an otherwise potentially catastrophic event. In response to the strike Coolidge took personal control of the police force and recruited an entirely new police force to replace all the fired officers. Albeit not the most popular decision, it showed him to be a man of quick and decisive action.

It was not long until Coolidge continued to rise in politics. In 1920 Coolidge became Vice President under the 29th President of the United States, Warren G. Harding, and upon Harding's sudden death in 1923 succeeded to the Presidency. He was then re-elected in 1924 in his own right, where he gained a reputation of being a man of few words, and a small-government conservative. At the same time he restored peoples' confidence in the White House, however, the assessment of his Presidency even today remains divided between those who approve of his reduction of government programs and those who believe the federal government should be more involved in regulating and controlling the economy

This is the FIRST coin program in history to honor all of America's Presidents, and it is destined to be the most popular collection in history, even BIGGER and more popular than the State Quarters!

Each golden coin is strictly a limited edition. The Washington and Adams coins that were made for circulation are already out of issue. The unique edge lettering on each Presidential Dollar makes the series a "special" first in United States history. It has never been done before on a coin intended for circulation. This was accomplished by each coin being struck twice; once for the image front and back, the second the edge lettering. This process created two distinct varieties: Coins with lettering "Face-Up" aka: Type I Coins with the edge lettering "Face-Down" aka: Type II.

This is a Denver Mint uncirculated presidential dollar, plated in GOLD. It will be encapsulated to protect its condition.
