About this Product Full Product Name

font size="2">The 3rd state of 2006 featured in the 50 State Quarter Program is the38th state, Colorado. The Colorado quarter was struck at the Philadelphia and the Denver Mints. The Denver Mint version of this quarter was struck in Colorado, hence making it the 2nd quarter to be struck in the actual state featured on the coin.(Pennsylvania being the first). The Colorado State Quarter design was chosen from more than 1,500 submissions to the Colorado Commemorative Quarter Advisory Commission. The design features a view of the Rocky Mountains and it includes evergreen trees and a banner bearing the inscription "Colorful Colorado."

This Philadelphia Minted State quarter is independently certified by ICG as a Mint State 67. Uncirculated coins are graded on a scale of 60 to 70 -- with 70 being perfect.

In December 1997, America's most adventurous coin program became a reality when President Clinton signed legislation authorizing the U.S. Mint to issue the innovative 50 State Quarters collection. Starting in January 1999, each of the 50 states in the Union will be honored on a unique Quarter Dollar commemorative coin. Five states will be featured each year, based on the order in which they ratified the Constitution or became states. Due to the aggressive minting schedule, each State Quarter will be minted for only about 10 weeks. As a result, mintages of each quarter only are to be just a fraction of the "normal" quarters are. Regular issue coins will be minted at both the Philadelphia and the Denver Mints. The mintmarks can be found to the right of George Washington's portrait on the obverse: the small "P" indicates the Philadelphia Mint and the small "D" refers to the Denver.
