The United States America the Beautiful Quarter Program
The 2010 Mt. Hood Quarter is the fifth coin in the United States America the Beautiful Quarter Series. The series began in 2010 and honors one national park from each of the 50 States as well as Washington D.C. and the five territories.
This first year of releases will include: Hot Springs, Arkansas; Yellowstone, Wyoming; Yosemite, California; Grand Canyon, Arizona; Mount Hood, Oregon. There will be 5 Quarters released each year. Like the State Quarters, each quarter will be minted from the Philadelphia and the Denver Mint. The obverse design showing George Washington remains unchanged, while the reverse design reflects the National Park that is being honored.
The quarter's reverse features a view of Mount Hood with Lost Lake in the foreground. Inscriptions on the coin include MOUNT HOOD, OREGON, 2010 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
