The Chickasaw National Recreation Park Quarter is the TENTH release in the America the Beautiful National Park Quarter Series. One National Park from each State and U.S. Territory will be honored on the quarter. Like the State Quarter Series, the U.S. Mint will release 5 new designs each year. The 2011 releases include Gettysburg, Glacier, Olympic, Vicksburg & Chickasaw.
The unique reverse design on the Chickasaw National Recreation Park Quarter features the Lincoln Bridge. It was built of limestone and dedicated in 1909 for the centennial for the 16th President's birth. The bridge represented the first constructed improvement within the National Recreation Area. The Chickasaw National Recreation Park Quarter was released by the U.S. Mint in November 2011.
Each uncirculated quarter is layered 7 times in pure 24 karat gold. This Philadelphia Mint coin is encapsulated to protect its condition.
