The Glacier National Park Quarter is the seventh release in the America the Beautiful National Park Quarter Series. One National Park from each State and U.S. Territory will be honored on the quarter. Like the State Quarter Series, the U.S. Mint will release 5 new designs each year. The 2011 releases include Gettysburg, Glacier, Olympic, Vicksburg & Chickasaw.
The Glacier National Park Quarter features a scene from the park. The northeast slope of Mount Reynolds is in the distance, while a mountain goat in the park's high country is in the foreground. Mount Reynolds dominates the scenery of Glacier National Park. A glacial horn, its pyramid-like peak was formed by glaciers which eroded the sides of the mountain. The mountain goat is one of 62 species of mammals that can be found within the park.
Each uncirculated quarter is layered 7 times in pure 24 karat gold. This Denver Mint coin is encapsulated to protect its condition.
