A Return to Form for America’s Favorite Coin – The Washington Quarter’s Rebirth!
The Washington Quarter was released back in 1932 on the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s Birth. At the time the coin was meant to be one-year-only issue honoring our great nation’s first Commander in Chief, but due to overwhelming popularity Congress authorized the design to be continued indefinitely. The public LOVED the Washington Quarter and its simple yet beautiful design! They struck the coin until 1998, when it was replaced with the wildly popular 50-State Quarters program from 1999 to 2009 and the National Parks series from 2010 to 2021. With these series coming to an end, the U.S. Mint decided it was time for a return to form – the Washington Quarter would be making a come-back!
An All-time Classic with a brand-new Design – 2021’s Washington ‘Crossing the Delaware’ Quarter!
The brand-new Washington Quarter design features General Washington himself leading his troops during the overnight Crossing of the Delaware River during the Battle of Trenton. Washington is shown standing tall with his sword raised forward as the ships of his men can be seen crossing the frozen river in the background. The Inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “CROSSING THE DELAWARE,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR” are also prominently displayed. The Reverse of these new coins will feature the original John Flanagan’s depiction of George Washington’s bust from the original 1932 quarter.
